My Story
Hi, there. I’m Anna, an award-winning, bestselling author, a Christian speaker and facilitator, and a podcaster. I connect with others through stories, both from the Bible and from everyday life.
My hope and earnest prayer is that the characters within these stories stir your spiritual appetite so that you look to the Bible with fresh eyes and a renewed desire to discover God’s plan for your life, based on His promise to us in Jeremiah 29:13: You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (NIV).
Ask questions. Search for the answers. Wrestle with your uncertainties. Bring them all to the throne of God, and watch Him show up.
God has not forgotten you. He has a plan for you. In fact, He’s absolutely crazy about you.
Your Abba Father can quench every thirst and fill every gnawing pain of hunger in ways that may astound you. He longs to meet your every need, as you grow deeper in your relationship with Him.
A bit about how my brain works…
I’ve never been a great liar, but that didn’t stop me from trying to get out of sticky situations with a slick tongue, all the way back to the early days.
As I grew, I became more skilled using deception as a tool of self-preservation. My all-time favorite whopper was when I convinced my sister that I had gotten ice cream on my way home from an event while she had missed out. When she asked why I didn’t have remnants all over my face and hands, I told her that the lady who took me had a sink in her car. In know…lame. But it was the best my four-year-old mind could muster on the fly. Nevertheless, my sister scratched her head for years over that one.
Also, from earliest my memories, I found myself enamored, intrigued, and inspired by the Word of God. The stories, in particular. Yet sometimes I had questions I couldn’t resolve within the verses or even through consulting commentaries or other source material. For instance, who was King David’s mother? What type of woman was she? What about the other members in the family? Did they all get along?
Why wasn’t this stuff fleshed out in the Bible?
And then it hit me: what if I could resolve it?
What if I could provide at least possible resolutions for some of the untied threads of Scripture?
Could I combine my love for biblical stories with my creative abilities to suspend disbelief?
Now we’re cooking…or…er…baking…or….
I decided to try my hand at biblical fiction, launching my series The Lambswool Chronicles in 2023. The first two books of the series—Legacy followed by Lunacy—are out and available for purchase.
Can I confess something to you? I’m really, really tired of getting onto social media platforms and trying to wedge my square self into their round, ever-changing, algorithmic holes. I feel like I’m shouting into a silent and black expanse, with no hope or assurance that someone…that anyone…will hear me.
Are there readers out there that just really get me? Do others share my insatiable appetite and ravenous curiosity over the lives, challenges, and relationships of both well- and little-known characters of Scripture? If there are, could a website help me find them? After all, we have stuff to talk about!
I think of the books as the “ingredients” in a fantabulous recipe and the website as the oven. When readers “taste” my fully baked and golden-browned work (at the risk of taking this analogy too far), they’ll find it hitting just the right spot, with unexpected and delightful explosions of flavor, making for a highly satisfying and fulfilling reading experience.
My dream for us (BTW, I strangely feel another analogy coming on)….
I see the Word of God as containing all we really need to achieve a life worth living as His children. It addresses every element and is complete, just as it is.
At the same time, when I think of the characters we find in Scripture, I think of it as a skeleton covered over with skin, containing all the vital organs. Everything’s working as it should.
When it comes to the characters, my work puts meat on those bones, clothing on that naked body, and an environment in which it can thrive. The writing makes the biblical stories come alive in new and unique ways. My readers make spiritual connections with these characters that they hadn’t anticipated. And the whole experience causes them to want to dig into the Word in a more deliberate and thorough manner.
Win-win…win.
May you find here a like-minded friend who enjoys digging into the Word of God, wrestling with it, and imagining how conversations, actions, and associations might have evolved in Bible times—around biblical events—as much as you do.
